Buying Harry Potter Books

Discover Buying Harry Potter Books

How can I get the best Harry Potter books deals?

When you grow up loving books, you soon figure out that buying brand new books at the bookstore is not a great idea. If you’re willing to wait a while, a new hardcover that’s selling for $35 today may well be available for just $3.50 in a few years. Such has been the case with the Harry Potter books. The hardcovers sold for impressive sums when they were new, and have still only been marked down slightly at the major bookstores today.

But if you look for used copies for sale on the major online merchant websites, you can find the books for a fraction of the cover price. And one of the nice things about buying books online is that you usually don’t run into a lot of surprises when the book arrives in the mail. A CD can be scratched, a DVD can skip, a toy can arrive with a broken arm. But a used book from a reliable seller is just going to look like a used book, with a slightly smudged cover and maybe a tiny rip in the dust jacket.

Used book stores are another great place to find the Harry Potter books, sometimes for literally pennies. Thrift stores and swap meets are also good locations to look for the books, as are library sales and even garage sales.

If you’re hoping to find pristine copies of all of the books in hardcover, that could be a struggle. But if you’re more interested in actually reading the stories than having a spiffy-looking collection on a shelf, with just a little work you should be able to track down the entire Harry Potter saga at prices that even Ron Weasley could afford.
